Garret Holleran is in only his first season with the WSU coaching staff, but is as familiar as one could be. Holleran played the past two seasons for Head Coach Rob Cooper and was a pitcher for Associate Head Coach Greg Lovelady during that time.
This season, Holleran moves into the coaching ranks as the assistant pitching coach for the Green and Gold. He will work with the pitchers on a daily basis on form and technique, along with helping them condition during the offseasons.
As a player, Holleran piled up 153 innings of work on the mound for the Green and Gold. The lanky righthander posted four vicotroes in each of his two seasons, making 26 starts, while racking up 83 strikeouts. As a junior, Holleran made a career-high 20 appearances with 12 starts and a pair of complete games. On March, 21 2006, Holleran picked up the Horizon Leauge's Pitcher of the Week honor as he garnered a win against Butler. In only his first season with WSU, Holleran struck out four and walked one in six innings of work agaisnt the Bulldogs.
Last season, Holleran threw at least six inings in 11 of his 14 starts, with WSU winning seven of his 14 starts. During the season, the Phoenix native posted a record of 4-6 overall with a 5.06 ERA.
Before coming to WSU, Holleran played at Central Arizon College where he was drafted by the New York Mets in the 35th round. Holleran compiled a 5-4 record as a sophomore, throwing 53 innings and psoting 47 strikeouts. As a freshman he led the Arizona Community College Athletic Association with ten saves, making 23 appearances with 31 strikeouts.

Central Arizona College: Played two seasons for the Vaqueros...compiled a 5-4 record as a sophomore, throwing 53 innings...struck out 47 batters and held an ERA of 2.38...as a freshman led the Arizona Community College Athletic Association with ten saves, making 23 appearances with 31 strikeouts...a 35th round draft pick of the New York Mets in the 2004 Major League draft.
Prep: Lettered all four years for the Thunder...helped the Thunder to the class 5A state championship as a sophomore...named a scholar-athlete all four years.
