The Wright State volleyball team went over the .500 mark for the first time this season Friday night, but not without a struggle as the Raiders had to rally the final two games for a 3-2 Horizon League win over the Butler Bulldogs at Hinkle Fieldhouse. WSU won the match 18-30, 30-12, 19-30, 30-18, 15-12.

After just two ties and two lead changes total the first three games, game four was a little closer with six ties and three lead changes until the Raiders broke a 10-10 deadlock with an 11-2 run.

That forced the decisive fifth game and Butler had the early lead at 8-5 until WSU scored four straight to go in front, two of those coming on kills by Jenny Schultz. The Bulldogs tied it at 9-9 on a Susana Henri kill, but another Schultz kill and one from Lizzy Gunn put the Raiders ahead for good.

Butler finished with a 61-51 kill advantage and the hitting percentages were similar (.117-.116 Bulldogs), but the Raiders recorded nine aces on the night, four by Schultz, to just four for Butler.

Schultz led the way for the Raiders with a double-double effort of 17 kills and 21 digs while Kimbro also posted a double-double of 14 kills and 19 digs to go with seven blocks. Lexi Leonhard chipped in 26 digs from the libero spot and Tara Geegan had eight kills and seven blocks.

Hendrix paced Butler (7-18, 2-8 Horizon) with a double-double of 23 kills and 12 digs along with six blocks while DeGeeter also had a double-double of 13 kills and 23 digs. Porshia Allen added 10 kills, Nina Inic 25 digs and Dana Daprile 41 assists, 11 digs and eight kills.

Wright State, now 13-12 overall and 7-3 in the Horizon League, returns to action on Tuesday, October 31, as the Raiders host IPFW in their final nonconference match of the season. Match time is 7:00 at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium.
