The Wright State men's basketball led by 15 at the half and by as much as 22 midway through the second half before finishing with a 66-54 decision over the Indianapolis Greyhounds in exhibition action Monday night at the Ervin J. Nutter Center.
A Braxton Mills three opened the scoring for Indianapolis, but that turned out to be the only lead of the night for the Greyhounds as WSU went up 4-3 on two Vaughn Duggins foul shots and a Jordan Pleiman layup and broke away from a 11-10 edge with an 11-0 run, which included a four-point play from Troy Tabler.
The Raiders gradually built on the margin from there and twice led by as much as 21 late in the first half before taking a 40-25 halftime advantage.
A three by Cooper Land in the left corner gave Wright State its biggest edge of the night at 56-34 with 10:04 to play and the difference was still 18 at 64-46 with 3:23 left before Indianapolis closed the game with an 8-2 run.
Wright State shot 41 percent overall and was six of 17 from three-point range compared to 37 percent and nine of 27 from behind the arc for the Greyhounds. Indianapolis held a 33-30 rebounding edge, but the Raiders forced 18 turnovers while committing just seven, resulting in a 24-5 advantage in points off of turnovers.
Todd Brown led WSU with 16 points while Duggins had 13, 11 in the first half, and Tabler 11 off the bench.
DeAndre Brock paced all scorers with 31 for Indianapolis.
Wright State opens the regular season on Monday, November 19, at home against Coastal Carolina starting at 7:00.
