Box Score The Wright State men's basketball team could never get on track offensively as the Youngstown State Penguins erased an eight-point halftime deficit and, behind a big night from Quin Humphrey, defeated the Raiders 72-57 in WSU's regular season finale Thursday night at the Beeghly Center.
Wright State shot just 25 percent in the first half, but still held a 33-25 advantage at the break thanks to hitting all 17 of its free throw attempts, including five by DaShaun Wood and four each from Vaughn Duggins and Will Graham.
The Penguins scored the first nine points of the second half to go up one, but the Raiders still looked to be in good shape as a Jordan Pleiman foul shot at the 8:44 mark gave WSU a 46-44 lead.
Youngstown State, however, scored the next six points to go in front for good and pulled away by outscoring the Raiders 16-4 the final 4:18, including the final 10 points of the contest.
Wright State shot 25 percent overall compared to 51 percent for YSU, who shot a blistering 61 percent in the second half.
Wood led the Raiders (21-9 overall, 13-3 Horizon League) with 15 points while Pleiman had 10, Drew Burleson nine and Todd Brown and Duggins each eight.
Humphrey paced all scorers with a double-double effort of 35 points and 11 rebounds for Youngstown State (13-15, 7-8 Horizon), 29 of those coming after halftime, while Keston Roberts added 19.
