Box Score Both Wright State and Milwaukee shot 43 percent for the game and both teams had 32 rebounds, but the similarities ended there as the Raiders could not overcome the Panthers hitting 12 of 22 three-pointers and 19 of 25 from the foul line in dropping a 75-64 Horizon League decision at the U.S. Cellular Arena Thursday night.
The Raiders led 19-12 midway through the first half after a three-pointer from Todd Brown, but Milwaukee turned the tables with a 16-2 run over the next four minutes and later led 34-23 on back-to-back threes by Ricky Franklin.
A three-point play by Jordan Pleiman cut the Raider halftime deficit to 37-30, a half that saw the Panthers hit nine of 16 from behind the arc.
Another Franklin three extended the margin back up to 10, but Wright State followed by scoring 11 uanswered points, seven of those by Vaughn Duggins, to regain the lead at 41-40 with 16:08 to play.
Milwaukee, however, used another three, this time by Paige Paulsen, to go back in front to stay and Paulsen later scored five straight points to put the Panthers up 55-45 at the 11:44 mark.
Wright State could get no closer than six the rest of the way as UWM sealed the game by going 17 of 22 from the foul line the final 20 minutes.
WSU ended up with two more field goals for the game and dominated in points in the paint 34-18, but the Raiders were just six of 19 from three-point range and 10 of 13 from the line to 12 of 22 and 19 of 25, respectively, for Milwaukee.
Brown led the Raiders with 21 points while Duggins had 19, Pleiman 10 and Scottie Wilson eight.
Franklin finished with 24 points to pace Milwaukee (6-7, 1-2 Horizon) while Paulsen had 15 and Deion James 12 off the bench as the Panther reserves outscored the Raider bench 24-4.
Wright State, now 8-4 overall and 1-2 in the Horizon League, wraps up its trip to the Badger State Saturday with a 8:00 Eastern matchup at Green Bay.
