Box Score Wright State hit .321 in winning the first set, but hit just .080 the rest of the way as Cleveland State defeated the Raiders in Horizon League action Friday night at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium. The Vikings won the match 15-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-13.
The Raiders scored the first four points of the match and jumped to a 7-2 lead thanks in part to a pair of kills by Alaina McAuley. WSU led the entire way in the set as Cleveland State would get no closer than five the rest of the way.
The Vikings, though, would take control from there as they broke away from a 3-3 tie in the second set and 6-6 in the third. McAuley opened the scoring in the fourth set with a kill, but CSU followed with four straight points to take the lead for good.
Cleveland State (21-5, 11-4) outhit the Raiders .284-.128, including a .343-.080 differential the final three sets.
McAuley led WSU with 11 kills while Shaunda Sandifer had nine kills and Heidi Splinter seven along with 13 digs.
Wright State (8-20, 3-12 Horizon) wraps up the season Saturday with a 4:00 match against Youngstown State. The three Raider seniors--Ashley Heyman, Shaunda Sandifer and Jessica Woods--will be recognized before the match.
