Box Score The Wright State volleyball team dropped a 25-17, 25-16, 25-15 Horizon League decision at Butler Tuesday night.
WSU started strong in the first set, going up 14-10 on a Heidi Splinter kill before the Bulldogs scored 11 straight points to take control. Butler (6-12, 2-4 Horizon) then jumped out to a 6-1 lead in winning the second set and used an 8-2 run to break open a 9-6 advantage in the final set.
The Bulldogs led 38-27 in kills and tallied six service aces compared to just one for the Raiders.
Alaina McAuley paced WSU with nine kills while Dani Branco and Splinter had six each. Ashleigh Lucco recorded 19 assists and Jessica Levy had 11 digs.
Wright State (2-16, 1-5 Horizon) closes out the first round of league play with a pair of home matches this weekend, taking on Green Bay on Saturday followed by Loyola on Sunday. Both matches start at 2:00.
