Box Score Despite 18 ties and eight lead changes, the Wright State volleyball team came out on the short of a three-set decision to Davidson Saturday at the High Point Classic.  The Wildcats won the match 25-22, 25-18, 27-25.
A Mariah Nussbaum kill put the Raiders up 20-18 in the first set before Davidson responded with four straight points to retake the lead.  WSU closed the gap to 23-22 on an Anna Norman kill, but could get no closer as the Wildcats scored the final two points.
Wright State then trailed 23-10 in the second set before tallying seven consecutive points, including two kills each from Nussbaum and Heidi Splinter.  
In the final set, the Raiders then put together another rally, erasing a 20-16 deficit to go up 24-23 on an Alaina McAuley kill.  WSU later had set point at 25-24 on another Splinter kill, only to see Davidson (7-4) close out the match on two Caroline Brown kills.
Wright State only trailed 48-41 in kills for the match, but the Wildcats outhit the Raiders .298-.197 and had an 8-4 edge in service aces.
Splinter, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, posted a double-double of 13 kills and 11 digs while Ashley Langjahr added nine kills and Norman eight as she hit .583 for the match.  Ashleigh Lucco recorded 36 assists, Jessica Levy 12 digs and Brittany Waddell 10 digs.
Wright State (1-8) returns to action next week with three home matches at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium, starting on Tuesday, September 13, against the Miami RedHawks.  First serve is set for 7:00.
