Box Score The Wright State volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to Butler Tuesday night at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium. The Bulldogs won the match 25-16, 25-22, 25-14.
A Dani Branco kill drew WSU to within two at 12-10 in the first set before Butler scored four straight points to take control.
The second set featured six lead changes and 13 ties, including at 21-21 following a Bulldog ball handling error. A Marisa Aiello kill later cut the deficit to 23-22, only to see Butler score the final two points.
The Raiders led 11-9 in the third set before the Bulldogs closed out the match with a 16-3 run.
Butler led 47-28 in kills and outhit WSU .306-.098.
Heidi Splinter recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 11 digs to lead the Raiders while libero Katie Glassmeyer had 12 kills and setter Ashleigh Lucco 25 assists.
Wright State (1-12) competes in its final regular-season tournament this weekend, heading to Muncie for the Ball State Tournament. WSU will face Wyoming on Friday, September 14, at 4:30 followed by Ball State (11:00) and Pittsburgh (4:30) on Saturday.
