Box Score The volleyball team picked up its third win in its last four matches Wednesday night, sweeping Chicago State at the Dickens Center 25-19, 27-25, 25-23.
WSU erased an early 6-5 deficit in the opening set with three straight points, including a kill each from Ellen Senf and Heidi Splinter, and held on to the lead the rest of the way, with the final two points coming on two more Splinter kills.
The two teams were then tied nine times in the second set before the Raiders won the set on a Haley Garr kill and a Cougar attack error.  Wright State then trailed 23-21 in the final set before closing the match out by scoring the final four points, a run that featured two kills and two blocks by Splinter.
WSU finished with just a slight 39-36 edge in kills, but the Raiders outhit Chicago State .248-.139 and recorded eight blocks compared to just one for the Cougars.
Splinter led the way for the Raiders with 13 kills while Stephanie Ruffing had nine.  Emily Meng had 31 assists and Miranda Puthoff added 14 digs.
Wright State (6-8) heads across town this weekend for the Flyer Classic at the Frericks Center on the University of Dayton campus.  The Raiders will take on Western Michigan on Friday (4:00), Western Kentucky on Saturday (5:00) and host Dayton on Sunday (2:00).
