Box Score The Wright State volleyball team battled Horizon League leader Cleveland State tough Friday night, but came out on the short end of a four-set decision at Woodling Gymnasium, falling to the Vikings 25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 29-27.
CSU jumped out to a 5-0 advantage and led throughout the first set, only to see the Raiders force eight ties and four lead changes in the second set before the Vikings eventually pulled away from a 12-12 deadlock.
WSU trailed 18-15 in the third set before going in front 21-20 following a Cleveland State attack error.  A Marisa Aiello kill gave Wright State the lead for good at 22-21 and Megan Hopkins finished off the set with back-to-back kills.
The fourth set featured seven lead changes and 18 ties, including at points 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26.  A Viking service error again evened the score at 27 before CSU wrapped up the match with a kill and a Raider attack error.
Cleveland State led 64-52 in kills and outhit WSU .278-.166.
Hopkins paced the Raiders with 16 kills while Katie Klusman posted a double-double of 14 kills and 17 digs.  Maddie Lohmeier had 43 assists while Jessie Thornton added 19 digs.
Wright State (13-16, 2-12 Horizon) closes out the season with two road matches next week, taking on Youngstown State on Tuesday, November 10, and Oakland on Friday, November 13, with both matches starting at 7:00.
