Box Score The Wright State volleyball team opened play at the Hampton Inn Invitational in a big way Friday with a sweep over host Bowling Green, defeating the Falcons 25-19, 25-20, 29-27.
WSU led the entire way in the opening set thanks in part to six service aces, three of those coming from Rachel Kremer and two by Maddie Lohmeier.  The Raiders then led 19-12 on back-to-back aces from Marisa Aiello before Bowling Green closed the margin to 22-20.  Katie Klusman, though, gave Wright State a 2-0 set lead by tallying kills for the final three points.
The two teams were then tied 16 ties with four lead changes in the final set.  The Falcons took the lead at 26-25 and 27-26 on a Nicole Slimko kill, only to see the Raiders take the match by scoring the final three points on a Haley Garr kill and back-to-back kills by Aiello.
The win was the first for Wright State against a nonleague opponent on its home floor since a 3-0 decision at Chicago State on September 18, 2013.
Bowling Green finished with a 44-40 edge in kills, but WSU outhit the Falcons .255-.220 and recorded nine aces compared to two for BGSU.
Klusman led the Raiders with 12 kills while Garr had 11 kills as did Aiello in hitting .471 for the match.  
Maddie Lohmeier dished out 36 assists while 
Jessie Thornton and 
Katie Glassmeyer each had nine digs.
Wright State (4-1) wraps up tournament play with two matches on Saturday, taking on IPFW at 10 a.m. followed by Loyola at 5:30 p.m.
