The baseball team scored eight runs in the middle three innings and completed the series sweep over Youngstown State Sunday with a 9-2 decision at Nischwitz Stadium.

WSU broke a scoreless deadlock with five runs in the fourth. Gabe Snyder started the rally with a double to right and, after a Daniel Arthur hit to left, scored as JD Orr had a single to left. Peyton Burdick was hit by a pitch to load the bases and a fielder's choice off the bat of John Brodner made it 2-0.

Jason DeFevers reached on an error as Orr scored and the lead grew to 4-0 as Matt Morrow bunted Brodner in. The final run came in on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Fucci.

The Raiders tacked on three more runs in the sixth on a Mitch Roman sacrifice fly and a Fucci two-run single to center.

Kevin Whatley rounded out the scoring for Wright State in the seventh with a pinch-hit home run to left, his first collegiate round tripper.

Caleb Sampen (2-0) blanked the Penguins on just two hits through six innings, striking out two.

Offensively, Fucci finished with three RBI while Orr had two hits.

Wright State (13-7, 3-0 Horizon) heads to Valparaiso for a three-game Horizon League series next weekend, with single games on Thursday (4:00 Eastern), Friday (2:00) and Saturday (2:00).
