Trailing 2-1 early, the Wright State baseball team used four solo home runs and a three-run seventh to record an 8-3 win at Xavier Tuesday afternoon.

After the Musketeers scored an unearned run in the first, Daniel Arthur hit the first home run of the day for the Raiders in the second to tie the score. Xavier, though, quickly regained the advantage with a solo home run of its own in the bottom of the frame.

It stayed that way until Arthur hit his second solo round tripper of the game to left to lead off the fourth, his third of the season. John Brodner followed with a solo blast of his own in the fifth, his second of the year, and Ryan Fucci did the same leading off the sixth, his fifth of the season, to make it 4-2.

WSU broke the game open with three runs in the seventh as JD Orr had a sacrifice fly to plate Matt Morrow and Mitch Roman and Brandon Giltrow later came in on an error. Fucci singled in Roman in the ninth to round out Wright State's scoring.

Xavier (8-16) tallied a run in the ninth, but would get no closer.

Trevor Swaney (3-1) went six innings for the win, scattering seven hits and allowing one earned run while striking out a career-high six. Logan Blair, Zane Collins and Mark Meyer combined to pitch the final three innings, fanning two.

Offensively, Fucci went four for five with two RBI while Roman, Arthur and Giltrow each had two hits.

Wright State (16-8) returns to Nischwitz Stadium and Horizon League play this weekend for a three-game series against league newcomer Northern Kentucky, starting with a single game Friday at 6:30.
