Wright State volleyball continues conference play this weekend traveling to Rochester, Michigan, to take on Oakland on Friday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m.  The Raiders will also travel to Cleveland, Ohio, to face Cleveland State on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m.
Wright State
Wright State volleyball is currently 6-9 overall, and 0-2 in the Horizon League after their first conference action on the road last weekend.  Wright State dropped two five-set matches to IUPUI and Northern Kentucky.  The Raiders are currently tied for seventh place in the Horizon League standings.  Offensively, senior middle blocker
Megan Hopkins led the Raiders over the weekend with 30 kills putting her just eight kills away from hitting the 1,000 career kills milestone.  Hopkins had 14 kills against IUPUI for a .444 hitting percentage and a season high of 16 kills against Northern Kentucky for another strong hitting percentage of .424.  Hopkins also posted season highs in service aces (1) and digs (5) in the tough, five-set match against NKU.   Defensively, senior libero
Jessie Thornton led the Raiders with 41 digs in the opening weekend of conference play.  Thornton had 23 digs against IUPUI and 18 digs against Northern Kentucky.   Thornton is currently the conference leader in digs with 283 for an average of 5.05 digs per set, which also ranks her 37
th in the nation.
Oakland
Oakland University volleyball is currently 5-9 overall, and 0-2 in the Horizon League after their first weekend of conference play on the road.  The Golden Grizzlies lost 3-1 to both Green Bay and Milwaukee, placing them in a three-way tie for seventh.  Oakland's redshirt-junior, Krysteena Davis, is a threat to Wright State's hitters as she is a force at the net.  Davis was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 18-24, after averaging 2.38 blocks per set over the weekend.  She also recorded 11 blocks on Saturday against Milwaukee, her second match of the season with 11 or more total blocks.  Davis is the Horizon League leader in blocks and also ranks 24th nationally in total blocks at 64.  Wright State will take on Oakland, whom their overall record against is 8-9, Friday evening at 6 p.m.
Cleveland State
Cleveland State volleyball is currently 8-5 overall, and 1-1 in the Horizon League after their first weekend of conference play on the road.  The Vikes beat Milwaukee 3-1 on Friday, but lost the following day 3-1 at UIC, moving them to a tie for fourth place.  Cleveland State is currently the conference team leader in kills, hitting percentage, and assists.  Their power at the net will be a challenge to combat, but Wright State's block can shut them down if they stay focused on the setter's hands and close in on the set.  The Raiders need to watch out for senior middle hitter Alexis Middlebrooks, who leads the Vikes in kills and ninth in the conference with 134 kills for an average of 3.19 per set.  Middlebrooks has a solid hitting percentage of .348 which places her fourth in the league.  Wright State will take on Cleveland, whom their overall record against is 31-35, Saturday evening at 4 p.m.
