@WSUWBasketball Wins Exhibition Over Marian Saturday

The Raiders women's basketball team played an exhibition contest Saturday afternoon at the Wright State Nutter Center, as the Marian Knights of the NAIA were in town for a 2:00 pm contest.

First Quarter
In the first few minutes of the first quarter, the Knights got off to a good start, staying even with the Raiders for the first four points of the game. Behind balanced scoring late in the first quarter, the Raiders opened up a sizable lead, and were ahead by 19 before the end of the first stanza.

Second Quarter
Sophomore Tyler Frierson began to emerge as a force to be reckoned with in the second quarter, as her post play was just too much for the smaller Knights to handle on the block. By the time the second quarter was over, Frierson had found the scoresheet for 15 points, the Raiders were shooting 60 percent from the floor, and they had opened up an enormous 28-point lead.

Third Quarter
Jalise Beck had the defense ratcheted up for the entirety of Saturday afternoon's exhibition, and she had accrued three steals by the 4:32 mark in the third quarter. The green and gold were content to use their size advantage on the offensive end for the majority of the game, taking the ball to the rim and converting at a high rate. The Raiders maintained a huge advantage on the scoreboard as well as on the glass as the third quarter came to a close.

Fourth Quarter
Behind solid play from Frierson, Symone Simmons, and Angel Baker, the Raiders maintained their sizable lead throughout the second half. Baker finished with 12 points and three assists, while Frierson pulled down 11 boards and scored 21.

The Raiders will be in action next when they open the regular season a week from Tuesday, when they open the season against CSU Bakersfield in California on November 6.
