@WSUBaseball Hosts NKU to End Regular Season

The Wright State baseball team ends the 2018 regular season with a three-game series against Northern Kentucky at home. Thursday night's game will be played at Fifth Third Field in downtown Dayton at 6 pm. Free tickets can be picked up at the gate. The teams will meet Friday at 5 pm and Saturday at 2 pm at Nischwitz Stadium. Senior Day will be at 1:30 pm Saturday.
The Raiders, who clinched the regular-season title last weekend as well as the right to host the Horizon League Tournament next weekend, are currently 32-15 and 19-6 with a two-game winning streak. WSU is coming off a 5-2 win at Bowling Green Tuesday night. Peyton Burdick led the way with three hits and an RBI as Gabe Snyder picked up three RBI on two hits. Burdick is hitting a .363 clip for the season with 52 RBI and Snyder is hitting .353 with 15 home runs and 64 RBI. He needs just one round tripper and eight RBI to tie WSU season records. Ryan Weiss is 8-2 with 77 strikeouts in 82.2 innings and Zane Collin, who picked up the win at BG Tuesday, has a 6-1 record. Derek Hendrixson has earned eight saves on the season.
The Norse, 14-35 and 9-18, lost two of three at NKU to the Raiders earlier in the season. Northern is riding a three-game losing streak after falling at Xavier 14-3 on Tuesday. Griffin Doersching was named the Horizon League Co-Batter of the Week. Doersching went 8-for-12 (.667) at the plate this past weekend against Youngstown State with four home runs, a double, 10 RBI, and seven runs scored. In Friday's 16-13 win, he was 4-for-5 with three home runs, four runs scored, and nine RBI. He tied the NKU record for most RBI in a game with former Norse player Matt Mason, who accomplished the feat in 2001. It was also the first time an NKU player hit three home runs in a game since April 9, 2017, when Trey Ganns hit three homers against Valparaiso.
WSU will host the Horizon League Championship next week, starting Wednesday. A complete bracket will be released this week.
