Wright State (13-5) will put their four-game win streak to the test this weekend on the road in a series against the UIC Flames (6-9). The Flames swept their opening Horizon League series against Oakland and have played very well at home with a record of 5-1 at Curtis Granderson Stadium. The Raiders opened the conference schedule with a series victory of Milwaukee after the Panthers claimed game one in an offensive shootout.
The Raiders have benefited from great depth offensively. Peyton Burdick has put up big numbers all season for the Raiders. The junior boasts an impressive .400 average and leads the team in doubles (7) and walks (22) and an on-base percentage of .566. Burdick, along with Seth Gray, have each contributed 20 RBI. Zane Harris posted four RBI in the most recent Raider win over Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday. JD Orr has been a terror on the bases, swiping a team-high 22 bases, moving into fifth all-time in school history for stolen bases.Â
Bear Bellomy and Zane Collins are expected to make starts in their normal Friday and Saturday slots. Collins improved to 4-1 on the year with a win over Milwaukee last Saturday and has thrown 13 consecutive shutout innings. Sam Wirsing and Tristan Haught picked up weekday wins this week.
Jacob Key has led the UIC pitching staff this season. Key holds a 2.04 ERA and has tossed two complete games this year. Matt Bottcher leads the Flames with a .322 batting average and four stolen bases. All games this weekend can be streamed via ESPN3.
