Baseball Opens Oakland Series With Win Friday

Fairborn, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team returned to Horizon League play on Friday, as it opened a three-game set against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. Bear Bellomy threw a gem in his ninth start of the season, going the complete game and earning his fourth victory of the season in a 6-2 Raiders triumph.  The Raiders are now 23-11, 8-5.  Oakland is 8-22, 6-7.

SCORING
1st Inning – Wright State wasted no time getting ahead in Friday's game, as Damon Dues hit a sacrifice fly, scoring JD Orr and putting the green and gold on top 1-0.

6th Inning – After surrendering solo home runs in the 2nd and 4th innings to the Golden Grizzlies, Brandon Giltrow re-gained the lead for the Raiders with a three-run home run, his second of the season. Damon Dues then doubled to left field, scoring the fourth run of the inning for Wright State, and establishing a 5-2 advantage.

8th Inning – Damon Dues capped off the scoring for the day with his second sacrifice fly and third RBI of the day, bringing the final score to 6-2.
 
The Raiders will return to action at Nischwitz Saturday afternoon with a double-header against Oakland.  First pitch of game 1 is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
