PENGUIN PREVIEW
Youngstown State, who has won four of its last five games, is 5-7 overall and 3-1 in Horizon League play after taking three of four against Horizon League newcomer Purdue Fort Wayne this past weekend. The Penguins have had a player earn weekly Horizon League honors in each of the first three weeks of the season, with LHP Collin Floyd named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday after tossing the first complete game shutout by a Penguin since 2012 on Saturday against Purdue Fort Wayne. He scattered three singles and struck out a season-high eight batters without a walk over a career-high nine scoreless innings to earn his first victory of the season.Â
HAMILTON NAMED HL BATTER OF THE WEEK
Quincy Hamilton was named the Horizon League Batter of the Week on March 10 after he powered the Raiders to a four-game sweep of Northern Kentucky to begin Horizon League play over the weekend, finishing the weekend hitting .417 (5-for-12) with four of his hits going for extra bases – three of them for homers. Hamilton connected on a solo homer on Friday night before back-to-back days with two-run shots on Saturday and Sunday, also adding a double in Saturday's second game of the doubleheader, as he finished with six RBI and seven runs scored. The outfielder also drew six walks and swiped two bases.
