LAST TIME OUT

Wright State is coming off its second-straight 2-1 tournament weekend, tallying four set wins over Marshall and DePaul as the Raiders hosted the Tru by Hilton Dayton Beavercreek Invitational.

OPENING STRONG
Under head coach Allie Matters, the Raiders have always opened seasons strong, with this seasons' 4-2 start the worst under Matters. Wright State turned in 5-1 records through the first two weekends to start both the 2018 and 2019 seasons, and also started with six straight wins during the COVID-altered, non-traditional spring season. In 2018, Wright State finished the third weekend of the season with a 6-3 total mark, while the 2019 squad was 8-1 through three weeks and in the middle of its 16 match winning streak.

1,000 MARKS
Celia Powers and Lainey Stephenson both reached a pair of milestones in Saturday's win over Marshall, with Powers recording her 1,000th kill and Stephenson tallying her 1,000th dig. Both milestones came early in the second set.

FLYER-RAIDER INVITATIONAL
This week, Wright State co-hosts the Flyer-Raider Invitational with Dayton, with the Raiders hosting four of the six matchups inside McLin Gymnasium.

KNOW THE FOES
-Central Michigan (4-2) claimed three wins last week at its home tournament, over North Dakota, Butler and Youngstown State. Central Michigan was 11-11 overall in spring 2021, with all matches coming in MAC play. This will be the seventh meeting all-time between the Raiders and the Chippewas, with the last match back in 2011.

-Dayton (2-3) is coming off two losses at No. 2 Wisconsin this past week and won two of three in the season-opening weekend at its home tournament, defeating Cincinnati and Texas State while falling to then-3rd-ranked Kentucky. Dayton finished spring 2021 with a 14-2 overall record and an 8-1 mark in A-10 play. The Raiders and Flyers have met 57 times previously, including a five-set thriller this spring inside McLin Gym.

-Illinois State (2-4) went 2-1 last week at its Red & White Invitational with wins over Ohio and UIC before falling to then-25th-ranked Marquette in straight sets. Illinois State was 16-6 overall in spring 2021 with an 11-3 mark in Missouri Valley play. This will be only the second meeting all-time between the Raiders and Redbirds, with the other meeting back in September 2004.

SATURDAY HIGH MARKS
For the second time in as many Saturdays, Megan Alders reset her career high in kills, finishing with 23 kills against Marshall on September 4. Alders originally re-set her career mark by tallying 22 on August 28 in the win over Michigan State.
