MATCH INFORMATION

CHECKING THE STANDINGS
The Raiders will begin the weekend with seven points in the Horizon League standings, two back of the final tournament spot currently held by Cleveland State (nine points). Wright State closes the regular season next Wednesday at home against Northern Kentucky, who currently is last in the League standings with six points.

SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
Cleveland State is 3-8-4 overall with a 2-2-3 mark in the Horizon League, holding just a 1-2-3 mark at home this season. The Vikings are coming off a midweek non-conference road loss at Michigan and have battled to draws in their last two Horizon matchups, against Milwaukee (1-1) and at Purdue Fort Wayne (2-2).

HISTORY VS. CLEVELAND STATE
Wright State and Cleveland State battled to a 2-2 draw last season in Cleveland as Wright State had goals from Reece Allbaugh and former Raider Joe Kouadio. The Raiders trail in the series 18-19-1, while last season's tie ended what had been a four-match winning streak in the series for Wright State dating back to 2018.

LAST TIME OUT…
Wright State tallied a pair of second half goals but came up short on Wednesday night, falling at Duquesne 3-2. Wright State found the back of the net in the 70th minute thanks to Brock Pickett's header and pulled closer in the 80th minute on Reece Allbaugh's PK goal but the Raiders were unable to find the late equalizer despite heavy pressure down the stretch.

COLE TRAIN
Cole Werthmuller has been on a tear lately, scoring in four of his last seven contests for the Raiders while also recording a season-best seven shots in the Oct. 7 match against Robert Morris. His 28 shots are the second-most on the roster overall while his 15 shots on frame lead the team.

SHARING THE SCORING
Wright State finds itself with four multi-goal scorers nearing the end of the regular season, paced by Cole Werthmuller's four goals. Reece Allbaugh, Henry Hutchinson and Brock Pickett each have two goals, while the Raiders have also seen five other players chip in one goal each.

DOWN THE STRETCH
The Raiders are playing four of their final six regular season contests on the road, a task that began October 10 at Bellarmine. The road stretch features two non-conference matches and Horizon League matchups at Oakland and Cleveland State. The Raiders will also host Detroit Mercy and Northern Kentucky at home as part of the final stretch.

THREE'S COMPANY
The three second half goals by Wright State on September 19 against Bowling Green matched the most goals in a game this season for the Raiders, who also found the back of the net three times in a 3-3 draw against Saint Francis (PA) on September 2.

FIRST BUT NOT LAST
Wright State's 1-0 win over Milwaukee on September 16 was the first victory for Alex Van der Sluijs as Raider head coach. Van der Sluijs, who spent the 2022 season as a Raider assistant, is no stranger to winning, having racked up 38 victories in four seasons at the helm of Wilmington College prior to coming to Wright State.

PRESEASON POINTS
The Raiders got set for the season with a trio of exhibitions, traveling to face traditional power Indiana to cap the first week of preseason training (1-0 loss, 120 minutes) before home contests against Lake Erie (4-0 win, 105 minutes) and Thomas More (2-2 draw). Conner Osterholt recorded three of Wright State's six total goals, while Charlie CarpenterPete Schneider and Cole Werthmuller also all found the back of the net in exhibition action.

NEXT UP
Following the meeting with Cleveland State, Wright State closes the regular season next Wednesday at home against Northern Kentucky. First touch next Wednesday is set for 2 p.m. and the match is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.
