Oneil Mitchell's first collegiate goal in the 34
th minute propelled the Raiders to their first win of the season by way of a 1-0 shutout of Detroit Mercy.
Mitchell made his second consecutive start and took full advantage of the opportunity, scoring the winning goal in the 34
th minute.
Brian Burkett sent a corner kick into the middle of the Detroit Mercy box that found the head of a rising Mitchell, who put the ball into the back of the net.
The Raiders would be presented with another golden opportunity in the final seconds of the first half, but sent the ball just wide of the post.
The Wright State defense bent but did not break in the second half. Detroit Mercy fired 7 shots in the final 45 minutes. WSU goalkeeper
Alessandro Malterer stepped up in the 85
th minute with a massive save to preserve the Raiders' first shutout of the season.
In the box score, the Raiders led the Titans in shots (12-11), shots on goal (6-2), and corner kick opportunities (5-4).

SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
Cleveland State enters Saturday night's match with a 2-2-4 overall record and a 1-0-2 mark in Horizon League play. The Vikings are unbeaten in their last five games, with their last loss coming on the road at No. 16 Akron on September 1. In September, CSU is outscoring its opponents 5-4 with a pair of shutouts. Cleveland State defeated St. Bonaventure 3-1 in their last match, scoring all three goals in an 11-minute span in the second half (60, 67, and 71
st minute). Ryan Poling has played all 720 minutes between the posts for the Vikings, allowing just nine goals while recording 23 saves.
HISTORY VS. CLEVELAND STATE
Saturday night's match will be the 41
st meeting all-time between Wright State and Cleveland State, a series the Vikings hold a narrow 20-18-2 lead in. Cleveland State came out on top 4-1 when the two squads met last season at Alumni Field. The Raiders' last win in the series came in 2021 at Alumni Field, and their most recent win in Cleveland came in 2019

Henry Hutchinson, has accounted for 33% of the goals scored by the Raiders this season. The Westerville, Ohio, native has already set a new career high in goals scored, with three, surpassing his previous high of two from the 2023 and 2024 seasons. So far this season, Hutchinson has scored against Belmont, Loyola Chicago, and Purdue Fort Wayne.
