Raiders Ready to Host Milwaukee for Three-Game Series

DAYTON – Wright State baseball opens a three-game home series against Milwaukee on Friday, April 25, with an early 11 a.m. start. Fans can enjoy free admission and WSU giveaways at all three games.

After six scoreless frames, the Raiders broke through as Luke Arnold drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly. Carson Clark followed with an RBI single, then Hunter Warren capped the rally with a two-run double.

Wright State swept the Horizon League's weekly awards following a dominant weekend at Oakland, with Gus Gregory named Batter of the Week and Cam Allen earning Pitcher of the Week honors. Gregory hit .579 over four games, collecting 11 hits and striking out only once. He drove in 14 runs during the weekend series, including a program-record 11 RBIs in a single game, which ranks second nationally this season. The sophomore outfielder also slugged a grand slam—his third career home run—and went 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts.

Allen was lights-out in the series finale, tossing six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts to earn the win. The sophomore right-hander struck out three batters in the fourth and helped secure the series sweep on the mound.

Sophomore outfielder Gus Gregory delivered a historic performance in Wright State's 24-12 win at Oakland delivering a record-setting 11 RBIs, the highest in a single game in Wright State history and the second-highest total in the nation this season. Gregory went 5-for-6 at the plate with two doubles and his first career grand slam, accounting for nearly half of the Raiders' runs. His 11 RBI rank second nationally in a single game this season and nearly doubled the previous Horizon League record of six.

Braylen Blomquist is making himself known on the national leaderboard. The freshman infielder leads the Horizon League and ranks No. 29 in the nation with four triples on the season. Most recently, Blomquist went for three in back-to-back games at Oakland.

Sophomore outfielder JP Peltier remains a consistent power threat, ranking among the league's top home run hitters. He ranks third in the Horizon League with 12 home runs and an average of 0.32 homers per game.

Wright State leads the Horizon League and ranks No. 48 nationally with 218 walks this season, highlighting the Raiders' patient approach at the plate. Boston Smith and Patrick Fultz are tied for the league lead with 36 walks each, placing them No. 41 in the country. Fultz also paces the conference and ranks No. 36 nationally with 0.97 walks per game, while Smith follows closely behind at 0.95 per game—second in the Horizon League and No. 44 in the NCAA.

HEAD COACH – ALEX SOGARD
Leading the charge for Wright State is head coach Alex Sogard, who has built a powerhouse program during his tenure. After leading the Raiders to a 32-24 overall record, earning their sixth HL Regular Season title, Sogard earned his fourth Horizon League Coach of the Year honor in 2024, becoming the first to do so in program history. Â

His Coach of the Year awards are not the only accomplishment Sogard achieved at WSU. In 2019, Sogard took the Raiders to a 42-17 record, tallying the most wins by a first-year head coach in program history. Sogard led the Raiders to three consecutive NCAA Regional appearances, 2021-2023, being named the 2021 ABCA/ATEC East Coach of the Year. In June 2021, Sogard was named to the 2021 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team coaching staff.
