DAYTON – Wright State baseball's
Boston Smith was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-America Second Team on Friday morning, marking his second All-America honor of the season. The senior catcher was previously named a
Perfect Game Second Team All-American on Tuesday afternoon.
Smith becomes just the third Raider to earn national honors since head coach
Alex Sogard took over in 2018. In 2021, outfielder Quincy Hamilton and second baseman Tyler Black—both currently playing in Triple-A—earned ABCA and D1 Baseball All-America First Team honors. Hamilton was also named to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper All-America team, while Black received Perfect Game All-America recognition.
Smith capped off his senior season with a .330 batting average, 70 RBI, and 69 hits. He crushed a program- and Horizon League-record 26 home runs, a mark that currently ties for the most in the nation. Nationally, he ranks second in home runs per game (0.44), seventh in slugging percentage (.770), and 10th in walks (57). He also added 10 doubles and two triples to his stat line.
The Arcanum, Ohio, native's ABCA/Rawlings All-America honor follows his selection to the organization's All-East Region First Team. He also earned spots on the NCAA Nashville Regional All-Tournament Team, the Horizon League All-Tournament Team, and the All-League First Team. Smith was recognized as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Dick Howser Trophy Hitter of the Month for May and earned Horizon League Batter of the Week honors twice (Feb. 18 and May 13).
