Raiders ready for Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational

DAYTON — The Wright State volleyball team is ready for a highly anticipated weekend of volleyball, as the Raiders host the Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational Friday-Sunday inside the Nutter Center. The Raiders take on No. 7 Pitt on Friday before a matchup with Ohio State on Saturday and a meeting against Ohio on Sunday. All three Wright State matches will be streamed on ESPN+. LAST TIME OUT
Wright State split a pair of matches last weekend at the Ameritas Players Challenge falling to No. 1 Nebraska on Friday night before a reverse sweep on Saturday over California. Mya Ayro led all players in kills in both matches, finishing the weekend with 36 kills (4.50 kills/set), while Taylor Bransfield had 24 total kills (3.00 kills/set) and Katie Sowko added 18 kills (2.25 kills/set). Lauren Yacobucci averaged 10.25 assists/set with 82 total helpers, while five Raiders collected double digit digs, paced by Taygan Corstange's 22 digs.

MOVING ON UP
Wright State's Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational is being played in the Nutter Center, marking the first time collegiate volleyball has been played in the Nutter Center since Wright State hosted the 1991 National Invitational Volleyball Championship. Each Wright State game has different themes for fans. Friday will feature free Rally Towels to the first 250 fans and a free hot dog and soda to the first 100 students. On Saturday, the first 100 fans will receive free Wright State Volleyball t-shirts and there will be a free postgame youth clinic with the Raider players following Sunday's match for youth in 6th grade and under.

HORIZON LEAGUE MYA
Mya Ayro was named the Horizon League Player of the Week on Monday following a strong weekend against No. 1 Nebraska and California. Ayro turned in back-to-back double-digit kill efforts, including a match-best 14 kills on Friday against Nebraska, before she tallied 22 kills against Cal to again lead all players in kills while just missing a double-double with nine digs and three blocks in the win. She finished the weekend with 36 kills and a 4.50 kills/set average.

TESTS AGAINST THE BEST
The Raider non-conference schedule features a pair teams ranked in the latest AVCA Poll - No. 1 Nebraska and No. 7 Pitt - and a two more teams receiving votes (Dayton, Western Kentucky). 

KNOW THE FOES
- No. 7 Pitt has started the season with five matches against ranked opponents in its first seven overall contests. Pitt is 5-2 overall, falling to No. 1 Nebraska and No. 16 Florida in the first weekend, but is coming off of a Wednesday sweep over No. 3 Kentucky.
- Ohio State has opened the year 1-3 with its lone victory coming on September 3 at Miami (OH) in five sets. Ohio State's three losses - to VCU, Miami (FL) and No. 12 Florida - have all been in three sets. 
- Ohio enters the weekend 2-4 on the young season, with four set wins over Bucknell and Chattanooga. Ohio also has a pair of three set losses to Iowa State and Eastern Illinois, fell to Cincinnati in four sets and had a five set loss against Jacksonville State.
