DAYTON- The Wright State baseball team got home runs from JP Peltier and Cy Turner, but inevitably fell to Dayton 5-9 Wednesday night at Day Air Ballpark.

Wright State (17-15, 11-1 HL) will return home to Nischwitz Stadium this weekend for a clash of two mid-major powerhouses as Indiana State visits Dayton. The Raiders and Sycamores are slated to meet at 3 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Raiders got on the board first, bringing across a single tally in the top of the first. Keegan Holmstrom roped a single through the right side of the infield that scored Hunter Warren from third.

Dayton would respond with a run of their own in the bottom of the second and then take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third when Grayson Carpenter came in to score on a passed ball.

Peltier would regain the lead for the Raiders with a two-run opposite field blast in the top of the fifth inning. The junior parked his seventh home run over the wall in right-center to give Wright State a 3-2 lead.

Dayton would once again answer the Raiders with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth, thanks to back-to-back jacks off the bats of Bobby Stang and Dyrenson Wouters. Stand parked a two-run shot over the wall in centerfield before Woulters followed it up with a solo shot over the wall in left center.

The Flyers would get an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth before adding three more runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Turner launched his third homer of the season in the top of the ninth, parking it over the wall in right-center.
