Raiders shut out on Saturday

FRANKLIN, WI- The Wright State baseball team was shut out Saturday afternoon against Milwaukee, falling to the Panthers 4-0.

Wright State (18-21, 11-3 HL) will be back in action Sunday afternoon for the series finale of its three-game set against Milwaukee. First pitch at Franklin Field is slated for 2 p.m.

Griffen Paige got the start on the mound for the Raiders and delivered a quality start. The left-hander pitched 6.2 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out four Panthers.

After three and a half scoreless frames, Milwaukee would open the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. The first two runs would come in on back-to-back RBI base knocks from Charlie Marion and Dylan O'Connell. A third unearned run would come in to score on a fielding error by the Raiders' defense, their lone error Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers would add one run of insurance in the bottom of the sixth when O'Connell came in to score on a sacrifice fly.

Wright State got runners on base, but they were unable to come up with a clutch hit, stranding at least one runner on base in seven different innings.

Cooper Gilkerson was the lone man out of the bullpen on Saturday. The freshman pitched 1.1 shutout innings, allowing just two hits while recording a pair of strikeouts.
