Raiders run rule Milwaukee Sunday afternoon

FRANKLIN, WI- The Wright State baseball team took the series finale over Milwaukee in run-rule fashion, defeating the Panthers 13-2.

Wright State (19-21, 12-3 HL) will return home to take on regional rival Miami (OH) on Wednesday, April 29. First pitch at Nischwitz Stadium is slated for 3 p.m.

Chet Lax got the start on the mound for the Raiders and was brilliant on his way to his seventh win of the season. The left-hander delivered yet another quality start, allowing just two runs over six innings of work while striking out five Panthers.

The Raiders would strike first with three runs in the top of the second inning. Braylen Blomquist would open the scoring with a sacrifice bunt up the first base line to score Cy Turner from third base. Patrick Fultz would break open the inning a few pitches later with a two-run single through the left side.

Wright State would break the game open with a five-spot in the top of the third inning. Keegan Holmstrom would get the party started with an infield single that allowed Hunter Warren to score. The Raiders would score four more times in the frame without recording a hit. Turner would bring in a run on a bases-loaded hit by pitch, Manley served a sacrifice fly out to right field, Andrew Duncan would score on a passed ball, and Blomquist would drive in the final run on a groundout to second base.

The two teams would exchange runs in the fifth inning with the Raiders scoring on an RBI double off the bat of Manley.

The Raiders would get two more runs in the top of the sixth thanks to an RBI groundout from JP Peltier and a solo shot off the bat of Duncan. The homer is the second of the season for Duncan.

Milwaukee would score its second run of the afternoon in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a two-run double off the bat of Christian Holmes.

Pelitier would ice the game in the top of the eighth with a two-run blast over the wall in left field. The homer is Peltier's eighth of the season, moving him into sole possession of the team lead.

Michael Bilo was the lone man out of the Wright State bullpen on Sunday. The right-hander would pitch two no-hit innings to secure the win for the Raiders.
