Men's Soccer Falls 2-1 in Overtime to Cleveland State

Box Score

The game was tied for over 60 minutes, but the Wright State men's soccer team could never get the lead as the Cleveland State Vikings scored in overtime to pull out a 2-1 Horizon League win Friday night at Alumni Field.

Cleveland State (6-9-2, 3-4 Horizon) scored first at the 7:34 mark as David Stewart's cross shot from the right hit the front left post and went in for his sixth goal of the season. The Raiders, though, tied it at the 35:24 mark on Josh Grossman's third goal of the year, a 25-yard shot off the far post.

It stayed that way until George Kephart scored the game-winner for the Vikings at the 97:24 mark as he beat the Raider defense for an open net goal from eight yards out, his fifth goal of the season.

Wright State had a 31-18 advantage in shots, including seven from Adam Harp, six by Grossman and five each from Milovan Milosevic and Jonah Baskin. Goalkeeper Tebias Mason recorded eight saves on the night while counterpart Kasey Gray had six for CSU.

The Raiders, now 7-9 overall and 1-6 in the Horizon League, wrap up the regular season Sunday with a home contest against Eastern Illinois at Alumni Field starting at noon. That game will be the first of a doubleheader as the WSU women follow at 2:30 with a game against Youngstown State.
