Box Score The Wright State men's soccer team fell behind early to Horizon League foe Butler and were unable to get the upper hand on the Bulldogs, falling 2-1 on an overcast Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field. Braden Fleak had the Green and Gold's lone goal of the day, to push his season goal total to 10.
Butler's John DeVae got the Bulldogs on the board first in the third minute, scoring his first goal of the season, as he deflected a crossing pass from David Giarratana past Raider keeper Tebias Mason. Butler goalkeeper Frank Peabody remained solid in the net for the rest of the first half, including a quick save on a Milovan Milosevic bicycle kick to keep the Raiders scoreless.
Fleak tied the game and added to his league-leading goal total with a sliding deflection off of a Michael Conley crossing pass. The score would not remain tied for long, though, as DeVae struck for a second time as he took a Tom Turner pass and netted it for the eventual game-winner.
Wright State's four-game winning streak came to an end, but their streak of goals stayed alive as the Raiders have now managed to go 18 straight games dating back to last season without being kept off the scoreboard.
The Raiders fall to 6-3 on the season and 0-1 in the Horizon League. The Raiders will look to right the ship on Wednesday, September 27, when they will welcome Cleveland State to the friendly confines of Alumni Field at 7:00.
