Box Score 2 The Wright State softball team extended its winning streak to 12 Wednesday afternoon with two wins at Bowling Green, run-ruling the Falcons 14-3 in the first game before taking the nightcap 8-3.
WSU scored twice in the opening inning of game one on RBI singles by Justine Shilt and Allison Cox and made it 3-0 in the second as Shilt was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Bowling Green cut into the deficit with a run in the third, only to see the Raiders break it open with 10 runs in the fourth, sending 14 batters to the plate. After the first two runs scored on an error and a single from Jamie Perkins, a pinch-hitter double by Katie Kine plated two more. Another Falcon error resulted in two more runs and the final four came in on a passed ball, a Shilt two-run single and Perkins' second RBI single of the inning.
Doubles from Kine and Lindsay Barrett rounded out the Wright State scoring in the fifth.
Shilt led the way in the opener with three hits, three runs scored and four RBI while Kristen Bradshaw had two hits and scored three times. Perkins, Cox, Kine and Barrett also had two hits, with Perkins, Kine and Barrett each driving in two.
WSU tallied a run in the first inning of game two on another Perkins RBI single and extended the margin to 5-0 with four in the second, half coming on hits from Briauna Birl and Louie Haney and the other two as a result of Bowling Green errors.
Ashleigh Jackson blasted a solo home run to left center in the fourth, her third of the year, and after the Falcons scored three in the sixth, added two in the seventh on back-to-back doubles from China Frost and Barrett and a Haney single.
Sharon Palma (18-8) earned both wins for the Raiders as she allowed just one run the entire day over nine innings, giving up just five hits and a walk while striking out eight.
Offensively in the second game, Haney led WSU with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored while Birl had two hits.
Wright State (31-17) turns its attention back to Horizon League play this weekend as the Raiders host League leader UIC for a three-game series, starting with a doubleheader Saturday at 1:00.
