Wright State managed just three runs Wednesday afternoon, but it was good enough for a split as after falling to Butler in the first game 6-1, a two-run home run by Katie Kine with two outs in the bottom of the seventh gave the Raiders a 2-1 win in Horizon League action at the WSU Softball Field.

The Bulldogs scored single runs in the first two innings to take the early lead before WSU cut into the deficit with a run in the third. After Ashleigh Jackson led off the frame with a hit up the middle and advanced to second on a Lindsay Barrett bunt, she scored as China Frost reached on an infield hit to second and went to second on a throwing error.

That would be the only run for the Raiders, however, as Breanna Fisher (7-10) scattered six hits in picking up the win.

It looked to be more of the same in game two as Butler tallied a run in the third on a bases-loaded walk to Erin Falkenberry and pitcher Lauren Ott preserved that 1-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the seventh.

With one out, Allison Cox doubled down the left field line, but was still at second following a pop out. After just missing the pitch before in hitting a liner foul off the fence in left, Kine did not miss the second time as her fly ball carried over the fence in right for the game-winner and her first collegiate home run.

Sharon Palma (8-8) surrendered eight hits and four walks, but was able to work out of several jams as Butler stranded 11 runners in the second game.

Wright State (20-17, 8-6 Horizon) wraps up the series with the Bulldogs Thursday with a single game starting at 2:00.
