Box Score Justin Circle tied on a goal with 9:07 left in regulation, but Butler answered with 5:29 remaining and held on from there as the Wright State men's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to the #9 Bulldogs Saturday night at Alumni Field.
After a scoreless first half, Butler broke the deadlock with a goal at the 77:15 mark of the second half. Adam Glanzer scored his second goal of the year as he connected on a rebound off the crossbar on an assist from Conner Burt.
Circle, though, responded with his second goal of the season at the 80:53 mark as Derek Zuniga went along the right side and found Circle in the middle for his fourth assist of the year.
Butler (12-0, 4-0 Horizon), the only unbeaten and untied team remaining in Division I, remained that way, however, as Jacob Capito tallied his second goal of the year at the 84:31 mark on an assist by Ben Sippola. The Bulldogs then held on from there for the victory.
Butler led in shots 11-8 and 4-2 in corner kicks.
Wright State (4-8-1, 0-4-1 Horizon) now hits the road for the final four matches of the regular season, starting on Saturday, October 23, with a 7:00 match at Cleveland State.
