Box Score 2 The Wright State softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Indiana, falling to Central Michigan 5-2 and Michigan State 6-3.
The Raiders started strong against Central Michigan in the opener, scoring twice in the top of the first. Louie Haney led off with a triple to center and scored as China Frost singled up the middle. Justine Shilt reached on an error to put runners at first and third and Frost scored as Lindsay Barrett singled through the right side.
Despite having the first four reach, however, WSU would not score again the rest of the game and had just two hits over the final six innings. The Chippewas, meanwhile, did not collect a hit against Raider starter Krystian DeWitt until Brittni Merchant had a two-run single to tie the game in the fourth.
Central Michigan went in front to stay with a run in the fifth and added two more in the sixth.
In the second game, Michigan State looked to be in control with two runs in both the second and third and another in the fourth to go up 5-0.
Wright State, however, used five hits in scoring three times in the fifth. Kacie Rapshus started the rally with a double down the left field line and after singles from Chelsea Archer and Michelle Baker loaded the bases, Frost cleared the bases with a three-run double down the right field line.
The Raiders would get no closer, though, as the Spartans tacked on a run in the seventh.
Frost and Archer each had two hits against Michigan State while Haney had the same versus Central Michigan.
Wright State (9-11) wraps up tournament play Sunday against host Indiana at 4:45.
