Baseball Drops 6-2 Decision at Elon

Box Score

The Wright State baseball team held the early lead with a run in the first, only to see Elon answer with three in the bottom of the inning as the Phoenix went on to a 6-2 win over the Raiders Saturday at the Elon Invitational.

WSU tallied its run in the first as after the first two batters were retired, Jake Hibberd and Kody Krizman hit back-to-back doubles.

Elon, however, scored three in the bottom of the first, added two in the seventh and one more in the eighth.

After two ninth-inning rallies on Friday, the Raiders tried to do it again as Ryan Ashe and Tristan Moore had hits to put runners on first and third. A Corey Davis sacrifice fly plated a run, but WSU would get no closer as a ground out ended the game.

Hibberd had two hit to lead the Raider offense.

Wright State (4-6) wraps up tournament play against West Virginia Sunday morning at 10:00.
