Box Score The Wright State baseball team scored three in both the first and fourth innings and made that stand up for a 6-4 win over the Urbana Blue Knights Wednesday night at Nischwitz Stadium.
The Raiders dialed up the long ball in scoring their three in the first. After the first two batters were retired, Jake Hibberd kept the inning alive with a double to left. Three pitches later, Tristan Moore rocketed a two-run homer over the fence in left, his fourth of the season.
WSU wasn't done there, however, as the next batter, Corey Davis, hammered a 2-2 pitch over the right field fence for his sixth home run of the year to make it 3-0.
Urbana cut the margin to 3-1 with a run in the third before Wright State put together another three-run inning in the fourth.
After walks to Justin Kopale and Kody Krizman started the rally, Sam Picchiotti followed with a bunt single that was thrown away for an error, allowing Kopale to score and put Krizman and Picchiotti in scoring position. A Dan Marsh ground out plated Krizman with the second run and a Hibberd sacrifice fly made it 6-1.
The Blue Knights scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh to trim the deficit to 6-4 and had potential tying runners on base in the ninth before Taylor Braun ended the game with a strikeout to pick up his second save of the season.
Wright State (21-12) heads to Milwaukee this weekend for a three-game Horizon League series, starting with a single game on Friday at 4:00 Eastern.
