Box Score The Wright State baseball team fell behind 8-2 after four innings and could not recover as the Raiders dropped an 8-5 decision at Bowling Green Wednesday afternoon.
Bowling Green (18-26) scored four times in the second to take the early lead, only to see WSU answer with two in the top of the third. With two outs and no one on base, Ryan Ashe started the rally with a hit to center and after Jake Hibberd walked and both runners moved up a base on a balk, both scored as Tristan Moore tripled to left center.
The Falcons, though, responded with two of their own in the bottom of the frame and extended the lead to 8-2 with two more in the fourth.
Wright State scored twice in the seventh on an Ashe two-run single and added an unearned run in the ninth, but could get no closer.
Hibberd, Moore, Ashe and Justin Kopale each had two hits for WSU while the Raider bullpen of Tanner Howell, Lee Valencheck and Jordan Marker pitched 4.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out four.
Wright State (30-15) returns to Horizon League play this weekend on the road as the Raiders take on Cleveland State in a doubleheader at noon on Saturday followed by a twinbill Sunday at Youngstown State, also starting at noon.
