Men Fall in Overtime at Cleveland State

Box Score

The Wright State men's soccer team led 1-0 at the half, only to see Cleveland State tie it midway through the second half and then win it in the final seconds of the first overtime for a 2-1 Horizon League decision in Cleveland Tuesday night.

Brett Elder gave WSU a 1-0 lead at the 22:51 mark of the first half with his team-leading fifth goal of the season as the freshman forward got the ball on a pass by Finlay Milne from downfield and converted.  It was Milne's third assist of the year.

The Vikings, however, tied it on a penalty kick at the 79:00 mark of the second half and then recorded the golden goal with just 24 seconds remaining in the first overtime.

Cleveland State led 18-4 in shots, including 12-0 after halftime, and attempted 12 corner kicks compared to just one for WSU.  Raider goalkeeper Jacob Bye finished with six saves.

Wright State (3-7-1, 1-1-1 Horizon) hosts Detroit Friday at 7:00 as part of Homecoming.
