Softball Falls Twice at Hoosier Classic

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Wright State softball team dropped a pair of games Sunday at the Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Indiana, falling 4-2 to Michigan State and 9-0 to Central Michigan.

The Raiders jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against the Spartans with a run in the first.  With two out and no one on, Kacie Rapshus walked and scored as Michelle Baker doubled to left.

Michigan State went in front with two in the second, only to see WSU tie it in the third as Kristi Boreing reached on an error and came in on another Baker double, this time to right center.

The Spartans, however, went in front for good with two more in the fifth and held on despite Wright State having two runners on in the sixth and the bases loaded in the seventh.

Baker finished with three hits overall while in the circle, Krystian DeWitt struck out four in six innings.

In the second game of the day, it was all Chippewas as Central Michigan scored a run in the first, two more in the second and then broke it open with six in the sixth.

Wright State (8-12) heads to Toledo on Wednesday, March 21, for a 3:00 doubleheader before opening the home and Horizon League portions of its schedule next weekend with a three-game series against Loyola.
