Men's Soccer Defeats Davidson 3-1

Box Score

The Wright State men's soccer team erased an early 1-0 deficit with three goals in an eight-minute span and went on to a 3-1 win over Davidson Friday at the Wolstein Classic in Columbus.

The Wildcats went up 1-0 on an Andrew Dilallo goal at the 13:04 mark of the first half, only to see WSU quickly tie it three minutes later as freshman Brett Elder scored his first collegiate goal as he beat the goalkeeper on a low shot to the right.  Junior Derek Zuniga recorded the assist.

Nearly five minutes later at the 21:07 mark, the Raiders went in front to stay as Zuniga posted his first goal of the year on an assist by sophomore Albert Nilsson, his first of the season.  Nilsson then rounded out the scoring with his first goal of the year at the 23:59 mark, with the assists coming from Elder and Zuniga.  It was Elder's first assist and Zuniga's second.

Davidson outshot WSU 16-10, but Raider goalkeeper Jacob Bye collected eight saves in picking up the win.

Wright State (1-2) concludes play in the tournament on Sunday as the Raiders take on #16 Coastal Carolina at noon.
