Box Score A Brett Elder goal in the 80th minute proved to be the final score of the match as the Wright State men's soccer team tied Kentucky 2-2 Tuesday night at the UK Soccer Complex in Lexington.
The Raiders grabbed an early 1-0 lead at the 27:48 mark of the first half as freshman midfielder Zach Zwiesler recorded his first collegiate goal as he finished from the left side of the box. Freshman forward Austin Seifert was credited with the assist, the first of his career.
Kentucky, though, answered quickly with a goal nearly six minutes later and the Wildcats held a 2-1 advantage following another goal at the 55:28 mark of the second half.
Elder, however, forced overtime and the eventually tie as the sophomore forward tallied his seventh goal of the year as he finished from the far side of the box. Junior midfielder Bryce Rockwell-Ashton picked up the assist, his fourth of the year.
Senior goalkeeper Jacob Bye, appearing in his first match of the season, recorded nine saves as Kentucky outshot WSU 24-12, including a 5-1 differential in the two overtime periods. The Wildcats also led 11-8 in corner kicks.
Wright State (5-9-2) wraps up the regular season Friday night with a trip to San Diego State. The Raiders and Aztecs will kick-off at 10:00 Eastern time.
