Box Score For the second straight match, the men's soccer team scored three goals in the first half and went on to a shutout victory as the Raiders defeated Milwaukee 3-0 on Homecoming Saturday night at Alumni Field.
It just took 8:13 for WSU to take the lead for good as sophomore forward Eric Lynch's free kick hooked with senior defender Emeka Ononye, who scored his second goal of the season.
Wright State then made it 2-0 at the 23:09 mark of the first half as Lynch's corner kick from the right side found sophomore defender Jake Stovall, who headed in his fourth goal of the year.  Lynch's two assists on the night gives him eight for 2014.
Lynch rounded out the scoring at the 37:32 mark with a goal of his own, his fifth of the season, as his long shot got by Panther goalkeeper Liam Anderson and went into the right lower corner of the goal.  Sophomore forward Peguy Ngatcha was credited with his first assist of the year.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Blackmer posted his second straight shutout and fifth of the season as he recorded three saves.
"Tonight was a good win and it was a great effort by our guys," said WSU head coach Bryan Davis.  "Milwaukee is the defending conference champs and they are missing a key contributor, so we know that they are still the champs until someone unseats them.  We still have our work cut out for us in terms of continuing to get better and keeping them behind us in the standings."
Overall, WSU outshot UWM 15-12 while the Panthers had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Wright State (7-3-1, 2-1 Horizon), which improves to 6-0 at home this season with the win, faces a tough road test on Friday, October 10, as the Raiders travel to Valparaiso for an 8:00 Eastern time match with the Crusaders.  Valparaiso was ranked #9 last week in the RPI.
