Men's Soccer Falls in Overtime at Bowling Green

Box Score

A second-half goal by the Wright State men's soccer team forced overtime, but Bowling Green scored its second penalty kick goal of the match with just under a minute remaining in the first extra period for a 2-1 decision Tuesday night at Cochrane Field.

The Falcons took a 1-0 lead just before halftime as Keaton Reynolds was pulled down in the box, leading to a penalty kick goal by Jacob Roth with 1:47 remaining in the period.

Sophomore defender Jake Stovall, however, tied it for WSU with his sixth goal of the season at the 62:16 mark of the second half, capitalizing on a rebound off a corner kick by sophomore forward Eric Lynch.  It was the 12th assist of the year for Lynch, who entered the match tied for the national lead in that category with Khiry Shelton of Oregon State.

It stayed that way until the 99:01 mark in the first overtime when the Falcons scored the golden goal on another penalty kick by Roth.

Wright State (10-6-2) now turns its attention to next week's Horizon League Tournament, which begins on Monday, November 10, with the #3 and #4 seeds hosting the #5 and #6 seeds.  Currently, the Raiders are in third place in the league standings with a 4-3-1 mark, just ahead of Cleveland State (4-3) and Valparaiso (3-3-1).
