Box Score The Wright State baseball team led 3-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth, but it was all Cincinnati from there as the Bearcats scored the final 11 runs of the game for a 12-3 decision Tuesday afternoon at Marge Schott Stadium.
The Raiders picked up a run in the first as, with two outs and no one on base, Andrew McCafferty walked and scored on a double to left by Michael Timm.
The Bearcats tied it with a run in the bottom of the first, only to see WSU regain the lead with a run in the third. Joe Ford led off with a hit to center and after advancing to second on a McCafferty walk, both runners moved into scoring position on a Timm bunt. Kieston Greene followed with a ground out to second to plate Ford.
Wright State made it 3-1 in the fourth as John Brodner reached on an error and came in to score on singles by Jeff Limbaugh and Ford.
Cincinnati, however, took the lead for good with three in the bottom of the fourth and added eight more run over the next three innings to break the game open.
Ford and Jason DeFevers each had two hits to pace the WSU offense.
Wright State (9-10) returns to Horizon League play this weekend as the Raiders host league newcomer Oakland in a three-game series at Nischwitz Stadium. The series starts with a single game on Friday, March 21, at 6:30.
