Baseball Falls Twice at Valparaiso

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Wright State baseball team found the offense hard to come by on Saturday in dropping a pair of games at Valparaiso, falling 3-1 in the opener and 2-0 in the second game.

Valpo took advantage of three walks in scoring twice in the bottom of the first in game one, only to see WSU answer with a run in the top of the second as Kieston Greene led off with his first home run of the season.

It stayed that way until the Crusaders added what turned out to be the final run of the game in the fourth.

Joey Hoelzel held Valparaiso to just three hits in a complete-game effort while striking out five.  Offensively, Greene had two of Wright State's six hits.

In the second game, the Crusaders scored both of their runs in the third and held on for the sweep.

Michael Timm and Jason DeFevers each had two hits for the Raiders in the nightcap while on the mound, Robby Sexton gave up just four hits, a walk and one earned run in throwing a complete game with five strikeouts.

Wright State (14-14, 8-2 Horizon) and Valparaiso (11-13, 3-2 Horizon) wrap up the series with a single game Sunday at 1:00 Eastern.
