Softball Falls in Series Finale at UIC

Box Score

The Wright State softball team led 6-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth, only to see UIC score nine runs in that inning to win 14-6 in the Horizon League series finale Sunday in Chicago.

WSU opened the scoring with a run in the second as Angie Clark was hit by a pitch, advanced to third on a Kacie Rapshus double and scored as Becka Peterson reached on an infield single.  The lead then grew to 3-0 an inning later as Clark tripled in Hanna Floyd and Reagan Stofcheck.

The Flames cut the deficit to one with two in their half of the third before the Raiders with a run in the fourth as Floyd was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

UIC went up 5-4 with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth, but Wright State regained the advantage in the top of the sixth on a two-run home run by Jess Gorman to center, her fourth of the season.

The Flames, though, answered with nine runs on eight hits in the bottom of the inning to end the game on the run-rule.

Wright State (7-23, 3-4 Horizon) travels to Kentucky on Tuesday for a single game starting at 6:00.
