Softball Drops Decision at #11 Kentucky

Box Score

The Wright State softball team only trailed 3-1 against #11 Kentucky until the Wildcats scored six in the fourth for a 9-1 win Tuesday in Lexington.

Kentucky opened the scoring with a run in the second, only to see the Raiders answer with a run of their own in the top of the third.  With one out, Angie Clark reached on an error and a Jess Gorman single resulted in runners on second and third.  Kacie Rapshus then had a hit up the middle to drive in Clark and tie the game.

The Wildcats, though, quickly regained the lead with two in the bottom of the third and broke the game with six in the fourth, the big blow being a three-run double by Nikki Sagermann.

WSU pitcher Krystian DeWitt struck out six in four innings of work as she gave up three earned runs.

Wright State (7-24) heads across town on Thursday to take on Dayton for a single game at 4:00.
