Box Score Behind the two-hit shutout pitching of Krystian DeWitt and Montana Wear, Wright State closed out the regular-season Sunday with a 4-0 win over Cleveland State at the WSU Softball Field.
The Vikings had singles in both the first and second, but DeWitt was able to pitch around those and keep the game scoreless until WSU scored two in the third. Kristi Boreing led off with a walk and after moving to second on a Kate Pfeffer bunt, came in to score on Angie Clark's double to right center. Walks to Jess Gorman and Reagan Stofcheck loaded the bases for Libby Pfeffer, who plated Clark with a hit through the left side of the infield.
Wright State extended the lead to 4-0 in the fifth on a two-run single by Taylor Knore.
DeWitt (11-11) faced one batter over the minimum in five innings, striking out four. Wear then allowed just a walk in two innings of work, fanning two.
Wright State (18-30, 13-6 Horizon) will be the host of the Horizon League Softball Tournament, which starts on Wednesday. The Raiders, the #2 seed in the tournament, will face the winner of #3 Valparaiso and #6 UIC Wednesday at 4:00.
