Box Score A Jalim Bayo goal in the second half evened the score and turned out to be the final goal of the match as the Wright State men's soccer team finished with a 1-1 tie at Cincinnati Monday night.
After the Raiders and Bearcats batted through a scoreless first half, UC opened the scoring at the 51:44 mark of the second half as John Manga tallied his first goal of the season on an assist from Alejandro Garcia.
Bayo, however, tied it just 3:36 later as the freshman forward scored his first collegiate goal. Bayo won a loose ball from 25 yards out, dribbled it into the box and beat the goalkeeper to the post. Senior Gustav Svensson picked up the assist, his second of the year.
Both teams had opportunities the rest of the way, but both defenses held as sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Blackmer had six saves for WSU and Alex Gill five for Cincinnati.
UC held a 17-13 advantage in shots.
Wright State (1-0-1) hosts Robert Morris Friday at 5:00 in the first game of a doubleheader at Alumni Field as the WSU women follow with a match against Saint Francis (PA) at 7:30.
